In working with people, Alex has two main focuses. The first is that the person understands the connection between the horse’s thought and their body, as she sees this as the basis to all successful person-horse partnerships. The second is that the person has the technical skills, both on the ground and on the horse, to clearly communicate with the horse and to successfully direct their thought without force. This begins with riding fundamentals, from developing a good seat and position, to posting, to properly using aids, such as reins and leg. These focuses build an important skill base that is fundamental to any riding discipline, from trail riding to dressage.

Private & Semi-Private lessons are geared towards the rider who has never ridden before, or for the experienced rider who would like to further their education, either on their own horse or on a lesson horse. Private lessons can also be used as a compliment to full or part-time training, or an independent riding schedule. Lessons will focus both on technical skill development and on understanding and communicating with the horse.
Lesson days are an opportunity for riders to watch each other's training in a clinic style environment. Riders sign up for individual private lessons on lesson days, but other riders will be encouraged to attend and observe. After each lesson there is an opportunity for those observing to ask questions and for a discussion of what happened in the lesson. This is an excellent way to build both skill and community, and is particularly helpful for the rider who is only working with one personal horse to be exposed to a greater variety of horses and issues. Whether you have a horse in training or are taking lessons, please let Alex know if you are interested in participating in a lesson day.
Alex is available to travel to your barn or ranch for both individual sessions and clinics. Mileage fees apply and depend on the number of sessions and the length of her stay. |
